Why I Chose 17Hats As My CRM?

I started my business in the makeup industry back in 2011, which feels like a lifetime ago. At the time, I was working at a call center, and like many others, I had become hooked on watching makeup tutorials on YouTube. The videos were so captivating—I would sit at my desk, taking calls, and watching Makeup Artists talk about products and teach people how to perfect their makeup. I was mesmerized by the transformations, and honestly, I was at a point in my life where I was trying to figure out what came next. I had gotten my bachelors degree already, spent most of my life traveling the world playing basketball, and the transition from being an athlete to joining the workforce was tough. I had fallen in love with makeup and although I quickly realized I could make a business out of this, I never imagined running my own successful business. I didn’t even think it was possible to make a living from doing makeup. Entrepreneurship was nowhere on my radar.


Fast forward to 2013, and there I was—running a successful makeup business. I had become one of the most sought-after Makeup Artists in my area. My business was booming, and I was balancing it with my full-time job. I went from working 40 hours a week to working every single day. I used social media to promote my business, and as it grew, so did my responsibilities. I went from being a Senior Customer Service Rep to managing my own business and boy was I overwhelmed. Not only was I the owner, but I was the sole Makeup Artist in the company.


I had to do makeup, answer to emails, create marketing ideas, manage social media, create flyers… the list goes on. I was suffering from mental and physical fatigue.


When did my relationship start with my CRM?


I signed up for 17Hats in 2019 because, like many small business owners, I was looking for a solution that could make my life easier and help take the load off. Running a small business can be overwhelming, and one of the biggest challenges we are faced with is balancing costs. Expenses can pile up quickly, and often, we don’t have the resources to hire extra help to take care of administrative tasks or manage client communications. Not only do we struggle with limited financial resources, but there never seems to be enough time to do everything. There’s


always a long to-do list, and it’s impossible to get it all done. Responding to every customer inquiry, staying on top of follow-ups, and handling all the behind-the-scenes work can easily become a full-time job in itself. Time is one of our most precious assets, and unfortunately, it’s something we don’t always have in abundance.



When I signed up for 17Hats I wasn’t looking for a new system, but one of my colleagues used it and often raved about the system. Reluctant to sign up for ANOTHER system, I gave in.


Fast forward to today, 17Hats is really my best friend. Just ask my friends. Lol. They claim it is “A Perfect Tool For Solopreneuers” and I couldn’t agree more. It allows me to automate and simplify different tasks—like responding to inquiries, managing client projects, invoicing, and even scheduling—so that I can focus on what really matters: growing the business. Having a tool that helps me stay organized and efficient without the need to hire additional staff has been invaluable. It is truly my built in system.


This system has literally saved my life and my clients love it too!
